Galangal Root

A familiar spice in Thai soups like tom kha gai and tom yum. Galangal powder comes from the dried and ground rhizome of the galangal plant. It has a gingery, peppery scent that is sweeter and less powerful scent than ginger. The dried root is difficult to grind, so purchasing this in ground or fresh forms is preferred by most.
